Brooks and Bianca - Proposal at the Lincoln Memorial

Under the pretense of meeting up with his family, Brooks and Bianca climbed the stairs of the Lincoln memorial on a warm Friday evening. As they reached the end of the stairs, instead of heading into the chamber to see Lincoln, as most visitors do, the two cut over to the left, to the corner of the memorial, a conveniently vacant area in an otherwise crowded public place. There, as dozens of tourists looked on, Brooks lowered himself on to one knee, extracted a ring from his blazer pocket, and proposed to Bianca. With the Washington monument bright in the distance, Bianca said yes.

In the weeks leading up to this special night, Brooks and I conspired on how I might hideaway and capture this moment. Do I jump out from behind a pillar? Should I stand well off in the distance with a long range lens? Fortunately, being the attraction that it is, I was able to hide in plain sight among the tourists capturing the DC skyline. And being the beautiful couple that they are, it was very easy to get some great photos of Brooks and Bianca.

Brooks and Bianca - you are both lovely people and a pleasure to work with. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your night. Wishing you all the best!
